2017 RACE RESULTS
The 2016 R4 was a tremendous success. We registered 980 participants!
We cleared approximately $80,000, which will directly benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Trevor Loughlin Foundation Patient Fund, which issues grants to individuals batlling blood cancers and acute catastrophic illnesses.
This could not have been possible without our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and participants. Our business sponsors are community minded and generous-- Please support them when you can.
The 'Brittany Beckman Bakery' was again a hit, offering baked goods for the participants to enjoy. We honor Brittany Beckman, 24, who passed away two years ago after a seven year battle with Leukemia. Brittany was a former R4 Patient Fund Beneficiary who helped raise awareness about blood cancer and our need to do more to find a cure. The Brittany Beckman Bakery was founded by 'Team Young' of Young's TKD, Inc. The bakery offered delicious cupcakes, muffins and pasteries, prepared by Team Young parents, that rivaled a Paris pattisserie in both presentation and taste. Thank you to the Resnick Group for donating the use of the bakery case.
The R4 Overall Winner was Derek Lake with a time of 15:52, followed by Mike Chow, 16:24, and James Granata, 16:43. The overall female winner was April Ackerman, 19:07, followed by Alison Mcnulty, 19:29 and Katy Schlichtman, 20:17.
There are 40 new heroes who 'got swabbed' and added their names to the International Bone Marrow Bank-- joining over 650 others in the last 8 years at the R4. You have given yourself the opportunity to potentially save a life! Thanks you to Colleen Cunningham, bone marrow donor to her brother Chris, for being at the R4 and helping to demystify the bone marrow donor process.
The R4 Health Fair provided participants with an opportunity to learn about wellness initiatives and providers in our region. Thanks to all who exhibited.
